Read/Write Bi-directional Infrared Tags
EZT-I2R2 tags are read/write bi-directional infrared tags that can be used for precise location information as well as for general RFID purposes.

These devices operate without any RF. Data can be written to the tags and read fro them via Active RFID Systems, Inc. handheld devices as well as with commercially available PDAs and PDTs. The performance is enhanced to the specified levels when the Active RFID Systems, Inc. handhelds are utilized. They can be used for very precise location, as at a particular station in a production line, as well as for bi-directional data transfer. They are priced slightly higher than passive tags but offer considerably better performance in reading and writing ease as compared to passive technologies. They work against metal and water objects.

The tags' operating parameters, such as data fields, response times, etc. can also be controlled via the infrared communication link.

This tag has a fully enabled search and locate mode of operation.
